This ski resort is a little known gem of almost wilful obscurity, and Siusi village, with its chalets, arches, cobbles, pastel paintwork, wall murals and extraordinary mountain backdrop, is quite simply one of the most gorgeous ski locations we have ever seen.
As a trade-off, we expected the skiing to be negligible, but no, it’s great! A state of the art gondola rises from the edge of the village into a fantastic ski area which is shared with much more famous Ortisei. You will find runs of every kind, on high, snow-sure slopes, with Dolomite views of humbling splendour. We are sure most people will be happy with the local skiing but access to the limitless Sella Ronda can be accessed via Santa Christina village which you can get over to in 1.5hrs. Included on your lift pass is Alpi di Siusi, Selva Val Gardena and Santa Christina.
This is a terrific area spread over 3 connecting mountains. The runs are long and wide and offer even the best skiers plenty of challenge. You can buy an extension for the whole of the Superski Dolomiti if you wish but we don’t recommend it as there’s more than enough to cope with here for a week or more.
The terrain at Siusi is great for snowboarders.
Siusi, Austrian until 1918, is a medieval village celebrated in poetry and song, and was once a home-from-home to the doomed European and Russian aristocracy. It's popular now with old-money tourists and new-rich ski fashionistas who want something different. There are plenty of civilised and pleasant places to eat, drink and shop.
Charming, traditional, Dolomite village, surrounded by fabulous scenery. Plenty to do. Very civilised atmosphere.
