Equity in resort
Equity run hotels and chalets
Many of our more adventurous clients who have made the epic trek from Les Gets
have raved about this traditional village with its excellent local ski area.
We are delighted to feature Châtel for the first time and we are sure
Equity skiers will love it.
It's very much part of the 650km Portes du Soleil circuit, a contender for "biggest
in the world", and therefore with more than enough choice for even the
most dedicated piste basher. Beginners nearly always start the week on the slopes
of Superchatel where there are plenty of easy, wide nursery slopes served by
some slow drags and easy chairs. Intermediates will enjoy the enormous scope
on offer. There are plenty of long blues and wide cruising reds through the
trees. You'll also get that priceless sense of journey, as you cross mountain
ranges and venture up to Avoriaz and beyond. Advanced skiers have it all. Vast
mileage, some awesome blacks, plenty of off-piste, plus the added bonus of being
able to ski sans frontiers over to Switzerland!
Chatel has a long history as a traditional mountain village and is a thriving
farming community in summer. During the winter months it embraces the ski fraternity
and you can expect a warm welcome.
Chatel is a pretty village, built on the human scale and is a refreshing change
to the "Manhattan in the Mountains" type of purpose-built resorts.
Nightlife is good, with a pleasing variety of bars and restaurants, many of
which serve local specialities. There are plenty of non-ski activities as well
and all-in-all we think it's a great place!
