View of Alpe D'huez

What Alpe d'Huez lacks in chocolate-box charm, it more than makes up for in top convenience and scope. It's a true skier's resort, one of France's real big hitters, with first class piste design, lift system and snow making. It's all blissfully easy to use and the continuous investment keeps it State of the Art. It's definitely in the same league as its Tarentaise cousins but we think it's friendlier, sunnier and has a nicer "feel".

Beginners have vast nursery slopes close to the resort centre and an array of wide, gentle greens to potter on before venturing further afield. Then they can enjoy endless, wide-open pistes. Intermediates can cover virtually the whole area on cruising blues or testing reds that usually have a black alternative. Experts have all the challenge they can handle, including the longest black in the world and some fantastic challenges from the top of Pic Blanc. From 3300m you can ski black runs almost all the way to the village at 1860m. Snowboarders also have plenty of opportunities with a couple of boarder-cross parks and snow parks with ramps, jump and rails. They also have vast powder fields and natural gullies.

Alpe D'Huez is a big, bustling ski resort with all the après ski facilities you would expect from a world-class resort but it still has a nice atmosphere and a wide variety of nightlife.
